oh wow I'm posting
Things are good in the same way a fast boat ride is good: you're barely holding it together in the speed, and you don't really know when you're going to hit a rock and go everywhere in the darkness, but it's exhilarating nonetheless. Things are coming together and flying apart at the same time. Just like the universe!
I have an internship at a teensy indie record label now. The owner is one of the kindest people I've ever met, and funny to boot. The office is just one room in a shared-lease building on the downtown side of 5th Ave. It's just the slightest bit larger than my dorm room. They actually determine how many people are to come in to work on any particular day by how many people they can physically fit in that room (there are desks for four, five tops). My first day was yesterday; I mailed lots of CDs to France and Ireland and England...apparently BaDaBing gets most of their orders from overseas. I can't get over the fact that this is Beirut's label...what are the odds that I'd be obsessed with the band discovered by my future employer?
Anyhow, everyone should listen to them. And since they were a free download on iTunes a few months back, I imagine it's probably okay for me to share a teaser track or two w/everyone. Give them a listen. If you like them, you should order the CD; After all, I might very well be the one that stuffs it in the envelope, calculates the postage, and mails it to you. :)
"Postcards From Italy" "Mount Wroclai (Idle Days)" So, right now, my musical obsessions are of the gypsy persuasion. And Pulp. Always Pulp.
I think I'd like to live in a big house by the ocean when I'm old. Really. That would be...lovely. (wink at Woodra--let that one bleed through, didn't I?)
