I'm sure some of you have already read from John's journal about the car explosion, but get this:
It wasn't outside of Russell Hall, but rather, MARSHALL HALL!!! MY BUILDING!!! It was right at the corner of William Street and Sunken Road, right outside of my window. At 4:30ish today something inside a van parked on Sunken blew up, which propelled the car forward into the nearby telephone pole (containing the transformer that was already fritzing, sending it into a full-on seizure and caused us to lose power and internet until 9:30 tonight) and thus sending live wires into snake-like dances on William Street. There were 6 police cars, 2 firetrucks, and a bunch of Marshall Hall residents observing...So that was that...
I was in Linguistics class when the power started to fritz, and when class was over I decided to skip the poetry reading that was supposed to take place in the same room at 5:00 and decided to get my DVD back from a girl I lent it to, but I had to get into Russell Hall to get it. DVD in hand, I headed to Marshall to loan the DVD to another friend and when I knocked on his door to give it to him, the power goes out (with the wonderful OOOooohhhmmm-sound that accompanies the power shutting off). I ran downstairs to get Natalie after I overheard people talking about a car EXPLODING outside, we went to check it out, it was sweet.
I had texted Tom to go to Chipotle before I left the DVD at the guy's room and said I would be there in 15 minutes...well, needless to say, the loss of power from the exploding car caused for a little more business to be done in the room (i.e. prepping all my flashlights because, shit, a transformer blew, there's no way we would have power by the time we got back from dinner), so Natalie and I got up there at about 5:15...
Oh, and BTW, some Mexican asshole has been calling me all day and I felt bad at first because he wasn't understanding that I don't know/understand/speak Spanish and from what I gathered I think he thought that I was going to pick up his kids from daycare, so I hope some kids weren't waiting in the cold for me to come get them...but then he started leaving me weird phone messages and calling me "baby," and I'm wondering how he got my cell number and does that mean he has more info on me like where I live n stuff, so I had my dad run the number through his special PI programs to find out who this asshole is, and if he calls again I'm putting Miguel on the phone and he can tell him he's calling a police number and if he doesn't cut the shit he'll be arrested. Goddammit.
Since we didn't have power even after Tommy and I went to play Bingo (which I won TWICE - I won "The Mighty Ducks" on DVD 1, 2, and 3, "Reality Bites", and "Breakfast Club", which I haven't seen before, yay!) I prepped flashlight lanterns so we could maximize light (just strap a water bottle to the beam of the flashlight and the light reflects all over the place and brightens the whole room). Natalie, Mallory, and Leah were all getting ready in the dark to go to the frat party and drinking, so I packed my shit and went to the library to do my Macro homework due tomorrow.
And I just got back, I'm exhausted, the power is back on (thank goodness), and I'm going to bed.
Power, please stay on. Pretty please. I love you. The dark isn't fun when you're alone.
More later...
