Ok, so back at UMW again, and very excited to be getting back into the swing of academic things...I was worried as hell that I wouldn't be able to switch out of my Volleyball class and get into the Creative Writing class that I desperately wanted, but last night I was able to do a last-minute adjustment to my schedule before classes today and I got into the Contemporary Drama and Performance Studies class (counts as English because we're not performing, we're just reading and discussing plays and their contexts)...So I'm super-happy about that...So I'm all set to take 18 credits and possibly blow my brains out...but at least I won't be bored at all this semester...
9:00 AM was my Accounting class, and I swear the teacher looks just like my Uncle Currell, and talks just as slowly...He's a lawyer, which I think is perfectly suitable since lawyers charge by the minute, he must rack up come dough with how slow he talks...It took almost 20 minutes to take role, and when we said where we were from he had a story for every place...We found out that 5 of us were from the Alexandria/Springfield area, and Ben Stokes my elementary school is in my class, so that was fun to find out...There are 30-something people on the waiting list for the class, people are near killing one another to get in...
1:00 PM was my Contemporary Drama and Performance Studies class, and there are over 60 people in the class (but I get the feeling people are going to drop it - it looks like a huge workload)...We have reading quizzes every class that end up counting for 20% of our grade, not cool...And after every sentence (or clause...or word...) he makes this quick little "um" sound, and sometimes they come in pairs like "um-um", it's hard to focus on what he's saying because I'm waiting for the "um-um"!
2:00 PM was my Italian class...and I think I'm going to cry...Tommy and I actually saw my Italian teacher at the Giant yesterday while we were shopping and he started babbling in Italian with Tommy, and I just stood there and acted incredibly shy so I wouldn't have to say anything in Italian...so in class today he definitely recognized me...and I realized I don't remember how to make a complete sentence...Our first quiz is on Friday, and it encompasses all 10 chapters from last semester, so today was meant to review Chapters 1-5 and Wednesday is review of Chapters 6-10...this sucks.
I had to spend another $300 on textbooks after I registered for the Drama class, which got me mad...and while I thought I was saving money by not getting what I thought was the Microsoft Office/Excel programs, I was actually not buying the two books I need for homework for tomorrow night...go me...So there you have it, ladies and gentlemen, I spent more money when I got back to school than I made all during break...
I'm getting all my homework done now so I have some free time when Tommy drops by later, so I'm off...
OH! And I just got a text from Maxine saying that the 7th Harry Potter movie is being split into 2 MOVIES!!! YAYYY!!! Extended pleasure, pleasing to everyone...best news ever...
More later...
