I have two weddings to attend this month, back-to-back weekends. The first one is... sort of themed? But I'm calling it on the outfit I've currently got worked out (minus the decision of what to use for a waist sash pin, and maybe some new earrings if I'm feeling excitable).
Oh, hell, and shoes. I need to work out what I'm doing about shoes. Maybe I'll just wear my black Mary Jane pumps, it's a long dress anyway and I don't expect to need to spend enough time on my feet to have to worry about blisters. (I have terrible feet for dress shoes. Really the optimal thing would be to buy old-timey button-up boots, but there's a limited amount of money I'm willing to spend here.)
So now I need to figure out what to wear to the second wedding, where instead of "how do I assemble an outfit to fit this theme?" I'm thinking "uh, could you throw me a bone with regards to dress code?" 5 PM, outdoors and on grass, reception into the evening, there's a bonfire, but there's also a cocktail hour, the cousin who's getting married is literally in the fashion industry (though to be fair she works specifically on bags), and it needs to have a neckline that allows me to wear a particular pendant necklace. I guess I'm going to split the difference between "daytime sundress-y thing" and "cocktail dress-y thing." Maybe I'll go back to Second Time Around, they had dresses I liked that were not theme-appropriate when I went looking for something for the first wedding. (I tried on one thing, which would have worked except it was SO NOT APPROPRIATE FOR A CHURCH ON TOP OMG. I'm fairly certain I wouldn't have been able to wear it anywhere with a straight face, but definitely not a church.)
