I really would not have guessed Utah as the next state to approve marriage equality. I just. Utah.

(I did enjoy one half of the first couple to be married saying that his polygamous great-grandparents would be proud of him.)

Yeah, that did provoke a double take...I would not have thought they'd be in the top 20.

Well, to be fair, it's hardly the state of Utah which made the decision, but a federal district court judge appointed by Obama (I believe), ruling against Utah state law. The state AG has already announced their intention to appeal. If this had gone to either a popular vote or the legislature, the outcome would have been different.

Would've expected the federal district court judges to be necessarily more conservative out there too, but fair enough. Maybe I've become overly cynical about the federal court system. (Maybe not.)
