Summer thunderstorms in the Chicago area: NO LOVE. I escaped about three and a half hours late, which I gather from seeing other posts I should probably not complain about, but wow, I am not up for going to work on four hours sleep anymore. On the plus side, blew through 1491, more on which later. Generally recommended other than a particular structural tic that drove me batty. I had no idea Tisquantum/Squanto had had such a fascinating life, and that's despite having read all the late politics stuff in Mayflower.
Anyway, fun as always, and too short--it seemed to go particularly quickly this year. Dunno why. I briefly considered giving in and staying until Monday next year. We'll see. I hate to use that extra day of leave, but I did not get to see you all for long enough!
