Different places are different! Who knew?

I am pleased to say that in this part of Massachusetts, at least, they understand how to make a turkey-and-cranberry sandwich. Turkey, yes. Cranberry sauce, yes. Mayo, yes. Stuffing, optional but yummy. (If there is no stuffing, there should be lettuce or something.) CREAM CHEESE (as was put in all but one of the turkey-and-cranberry sandwiches I ever saw in Washington), no.

I mean, cream cheese? WTF? I suppose I would feel differently about this if I liked cream cheese, but I don't, so.

On the other hand, this part of Massachusetts does not believe in the latte. I keep going into places that would, in the northwest, naturally have an espresso machine and the whole deal, and being met with "coffee" instead. Now, that's fine with me, since I don't trink either straight coffee or the fancy kind, but it is a little disconcerting.

Today I got my hair cut at the place around the corner, which went just fine and was considerably cheaper than my last place, so I may end up just sticking with them. Then I went to the restaurant up the street--for those of you who've been here, it's that place in the little mini Flatiron building at the bizarro intersection--which turned out to be basically a diner. Which I'm in favor of, so. And yummy turkey-and-cranberry wrap, as mentioned above.

Oh, and I finally watched the BSG from two weeks ago, about which I will only say that laurashapiro has permanently ruined the opening for me by mentioning her P's theory that the Cylon plan involves muffins. I can't see that "and they have a plan" anymore without thinking "muffins!" and giggling a little to myself. Mmm, muffins.

This evening I'm doing some dishes, cleaning the bathroom, and then, I swear to God, writing. I've PROMISED myself. I should have cooked--I've had the makings for a pasta salad lying around for something like two weeks now, I haven't been cooking for myself at all, and I won't have time tomorrow since I'm going an hour and a half away to go couch shopping (yes, I know, delivery will probably be prohibitive but whatever I'm going with a friend I can just use it as a chance to find out what I like). But I did not. I'm going to have to work something out with regards to my motivation on that front; I think part of what's going on is that I'm not doing any fannish surfing during the day, so I get home and turn the computer on and the next thing I know it's seven o'clock and I don't feel like chopping anything, you know?

bsg, random
