Veronica Mars

1) Starting off with a silly observation: I'd been sad that the credits music would, perhaps, not apply anymore. So I'm particularly charmed by the flip in the "you" that lets it still be relevant.

2) It is, perhaps, another example of my lack of normal human empathy that I'm not all that upset that Duncan isn't all that upset--except that he ought to be upset about Meg, who's someone he was close to for some time. Still, I don't think that Duncan's reaction is outside the realm of normal human behavior. (Actually, I find it a lot easier to understand than I do the reactions of the people who latched onto the tragedy and started mourning people they'd never cared about when they were alive.)

3) That said, he really could've been more supportive of Veronica.

4) I think we can all agree that a lot of what's going on with Veronica is an attempt to go back to happy times before Lilly's death. She's back with Duncan, she's wiping out that first sexual experience with a new, positive one, she even made that abortive attempt to stop being Veronica Mars, Girl Detective. And really, I don't think there's anything particularly unhealthy or problematic about that. She and Duncan obviously do get along and enjoy each other, and they had what appears to be a pretty positive first sexual experience, which they both wanted on the way in and which neither of them appear to have regretted on the way out. Do they have a Love For The Ages? No. They've got a high school relationship which will be fun for a while, and which will then end, hopefully not all that traumatically. And good for them, frankly.

5) Since I didn't comment on the season premiere--yes, obviously it's Logan who Veronica really clicks with, and yes, she did exactly the right thing by walking away from him. Good job, Veronica. I'm not rooting for them to get together, but I'm not rooting against them, either; Veronica is no Buffy, and her attraction to Logan makes perfect sense to me. She'll be better off not being involved with this Logan, but I can imagine an enjoyable, believable story where she was.

6) If Jackie is a bitch to Our Wallace, I will kick her ass over that cliff myself.

7) Which is to say, hey, go Wallace! Way to utilize new skills! How nice that you got some time with the girl you want! If she's a bitch to you, I will totally kick her ass over that cliff myself. Call me.

7a) Did we know about Wallace's arms?

7b) Is Percy Daggs old enough for me not to feel dirty looking at his arms?

8) Meg's survival? Kinda cheap. Presumably it's for some greater reason than "we couldn't bear to kill her," at least.

9) I'm not even going to try to figure out the shape of the big mystery yet. Everything will tie back into class warfare eventually, but how exactly... I'm not ready to try to play that game.

10) I liked Jessie--I've seen widely variable opinions of the actress who played her, and I come down on the pro side. Anyway, it was fun to see Veronica in her.

ETA: Also, the sun has gone away and I do not like winter. The end.

ETA #2: Should I be alarmed at the number of times the "Katie needs" meme turns up "Katie needs to get a grip"? I think someone's trying to tell me something.
