ACHOO
I've got a cold and I have been sneezing non-stop for the past 3 days. I have this tickle in my nose and it won't go away and its VERY DISTRACTING. Everytime I sit down to do work and try to concentrate, I start sneezing. And last night it woke me up 3 times.
I sent out a bunch of emails to profs about research opportunities in their labs this summer and I've gotten a few emails back from people saying they're either going away to do research this summer (ie. siberia!) and thus they aren't taking on students this summer, or else they're not doing any research at all this summer. I've gotten 5 emails from people who are interested in me, but they wanted to see my transcript, or aren't hiring yet and "can you email back in march?" etc etc. So I've sent my transcript to the people that asked. But I just want to know now! There was this one prof at U of T who liked me cause he went to Guelph too, as did his "partner" who was there for studio art. So he said he was curious about me and would do his best to get me in his lab as soon as he looks over my transcript etc. Ugh. The annoying thing is that some profs don't personally care what your marks are, but want students with high marks cause then they can get grants from the government. I hope I can get a job. Shlarg.
Arts and science courses are nice sometimes, but annoying at others. Like now. What are 3 of my most significant learning experieces over my lifetime? I can't think of a single really significant one. Blargh. But next week we get to choose our placements for my ASCI*3000 class. One place is at College Heights which is a vocational highschool with alot of rough non-academic type youth. Another is at another highschool that has some sort of breakfast program or something. And the last is this "Give Yourself Credit" program for homeless youth in Guelph, where they can go to this church and work towards highschool credits at their own pace. I think I want to do the last one. We'll see though.
