For years I thought my favourite companion would always be Rose Tyler. I felt her so close to me, so similar (except for that HUGE amount of pink that followed her anywhere...now, seriously? I hate pink. It's so girlish. And Rose is not girlish. She's better than that. Period), I could see myself in her way of thinking, of acting and so on. I was pretty sure no one could ever take her place in my little, human, whovian heart. As most of the time I'm pretty sure of something, I was wrong. Because a young, funny, pretty, strong, absurd girl named Amelia Pond came into the picture. Now, I would probably never become friends with Amy, not in a very deep way at least, we have almost nothing in common and I don't think she would really like me, while I would find her just "ok" or something - in real life. But as a fictional character, I just fell in love with her. She's so screwed up I'd marry her, if i were a man. I like screwed up characters, like Cassie, Cook, House, Lex Luthor, Sherlock...characters that just end up doing the wrong thing just because they don't know what the right thing is, or they don't understand themselves. Amy almost threw away Rory and their life together because she had a crush NOT on the Doctor himself, but on the life the Doctor had shown to her. She liked the idea of being with the Doctor, not him as he really was (at least that's the way I see it). She has to lose Rory to understand how much she loves him and that she couldn't live without him. That's human, that's real, that makes you think that if such an ordinary girl, with no special abilities or superpowers or something, can live an extraordinary life, you can have your share of adventure too.
