Band Camp is over for ever.

Aug 11, 2007 20:01

I'm trying to write this perfectly with nearly everything that intrigued me this week, but this is the fifth time I've re-written this.

Band Camp was amazing. This was the best week, and show, out of all four years I've been here. This group, the band as a whole, just sort of clicks. Everyone seems to get along, with the exception of Ron Slusher, and no one is a Ted Seavey. Donnie didn't get that angry with us and he even jumped and yelled 'yes' when we did a drill right. That's a first.

Monday: Section color day. Low brass/woodwinds were orange. It was great, I got to see everyone I haven't seen since the end of school and it was just really nice. We learned 'In The Stone' which was quite easy, but stressful. I memorized my music that day for it. :] The baritones and mellophones discovered that we are now bffe sections. The first time that these two sections have gotten along so well. After lunch, it got a bit rainy and we had to go inside this tin building during the storm, which was cramped but fun none the less, and practiced our music. H sent us home early because we couldn't really do much. I spent the night over Ally's house which wasn't that bad, surprisingly. We fell asleep watching Dr. 90210.

Tuesday: We didn't have a set day for spirit week, so b-tones and m-phones took it upon themselves to blue for us and pink for the m-phones. It rained a bit, but not as much as the day before. Will through a huge clump of grass at me...that's ok that. :D We learned Birdland but had to learn the rest on Wednesday, if my memory is correct. I got incredibly burnt...like, really burnt. I had cheering the same night and it killed my shoulders to do back handsprings, but I got over it.

Wednesday: Unity day. B-tones wore shirts that said 'Shake yo brass' and fanny packs. :] We met in the band room instead of at Roger Allen because it was a rainy morning. We did sectionals and had lunch there. We had to car pool our way to Roger Allen after lunch and Sam made the mistake in inviting one extra person for his car so him and Sarah were in the front and Robert, Derek and Corey were in the back and I had to lay across them. It was sooo funny. When we got out, Sam went and pulled Robert's pants down. His butt is so unbelievably white. The was one highlight of my week I will never forget. I couldn't wear my shirt all day because it irritated my bubbling shoulders so I wore a tube top, ick, I hate those. We learned the rest of Birdland and most of Disco Inferno, including the dance.

T h u r s d a y : I love spandex Thursday for the baritones and mellophones! :D We wore spandex and Sam's had a hole in his near his crotch. Hah. We learned the rest of Disco Inferno and most of Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine. The day was pretty good. Nothing amazing happened...not that I can remember.

Friday: Red and white day and Donnie appreciation day for the b-tons and m-phones. We had unicorn stickers on our arm since he has a unicorn tattoo. Last day. :[ We learned the rest of Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine and we gave Donnie goosebumps. Lunch was fun. I ate with Will and Nathan. :D The sectional we had before the show was amazing. It involved handstands, peeling my skin (courtisy of Lauren, Sarah, Sam and Robert) and leapfrog. :] Sam, Kendall and I were making Pokemon sounds when we were at the ready, we gave some people quite the laugh. The show went great for the parents. The end.

Now that Band Camp's over, I can't wait until school starts. I loveeee band so much more than cheering. I never thought I'd say that. I shall leave you with some photos behind the cut.
