21 and invincible

Who has two thumbs and tickets to Cobra Starship in February? Me! (And chaletian) Them being at Shepherd's Bush Empire is rendered slightly less impressive by the realisation that they're only selling standing and level 1 tickets at the moment, but I suppose if they sell out they'll open level 2 and/or 3. Anyway, woo Cobras!

So I haven't updated in a while, it would seem. I've been doing various things over the last... month, I think. Halloween was fun, met some new people at yan_tan_tether's, which was nice, and discovered it's actually pretty easy to get back from hers on the bus. Even though I did walk from Putney at 2am and made my feet bleed. It's only a 20 minute walk but I have not worn my docs enough to break them in and unbroken in docs are evil beasties.

Fannishly I'm a Panic girl mainly but MCR are making my face go :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD at the moment. I always forget how much I love them and their stupid faces! And ♥Bob♥ is looking beardy and hot at the moment. I will always love him best. Sorry Spencer. I just want the album NOW please. Another album I want now is Empires' new one, but the single will do to tide me over, I suppose. Even though I have to wait two weeks for it.

I've been trying to go to/book more gigs recently. Frank Turner was brilliant as ever (she says, having seen him once before) and the last song was great with all the other bands on stage too. I like end of gig ridiculousness. Last week Chloe and I went to see Coeur de Pirate, a French-Canadian singer I love (and accidentally had a candlelit dinner for two beforehand - the restaurant was just across the road from the gig!). I love Coeur de Pirate and the first support act was really fun. Just one girl and a piano and ukelele - she had a song called Tea and a Tin Can Shoe so really, what's not to love. She's called Anna Log and her myspace is here, if you feel like giving her a listen. Then this Saturday I trekked through the rain and squished onto a train full of people coming back from the rugby at Twickenham to see Rise Against in Brixton with yan_tan_tether. They put on a jolly good show! Lots of singing along and I was again in my most favourite gig spot - just behind the pit so I get shoved around occasionally but not squished and kicked. \o/ There was a hilarious incident about 5 minutes before the band came on when one guy decided to try to fight someone for no discernible reason. I got the impression he did this a lot because his two friends just casually restrained him while continuing their conversation. It petered out quite quickly. Future gigs I have booked are OK Go! in January, Cobras obviously, Frank Turner again in March and GREEN DAY AT WEMBLEY STADIUM!!!!!! I can't believe how much I paid for that but hey, Green Day. I also can't really get over the fact I've never gone to see them before. What's up with that, teenage self? Seriously.

I also went to the theatre last week, to see Cock at the Royal Court. It was really good actually. Odd, with the no costumes/sets/mime thing but you soon lost yourself in the acting. I did want to give Ben Whishaw's character a good shake, but at the same time I slightly identified with him /o\ It's hard having your own personality when you just want to please everyone all of the time, OK? And opinions are difficult for the same reason.

New Moon last night. Seriously, Catherine Hardwicke may be a bit mental but she was obviously an essential part of what made Twilight actually quite a good movie, terrible source material aside. She did her best and made it quite beautiful to watch, but the camera work on this one was awful! It was still mindlessly enjoyable in parts (mainly the wolf parts, I must admit) and Taylor Lautner is sort of adorable. Team Jacob all the way. (Sorry RPattz, you know I still love your ridiculous face.)

I got a Googlewave invite this morning and I'm pretty excited, even though I still don't really know what it is. I think I need to watch the helpful introductory videos they sent me. Waved me? IDK. Anyone on there and want to help me figure it out?

I rly need to do some Christmas shopping. And send cards to people. Stop going by so fast, year!

How is everyone? Tell me stuff!

Ooh, just remembered what I was going to ask: does anyone (that I see regularly, I suppose) have Band of Brothers on DVD that they'd like to lend me? I really want to watch it and thought it'd be nice and a bit radical to actually watch it on the telly rather than on the computer.

gigs, theatre, music, internets, cinema, christmas, because pete wentz
