So I just read that Vicki was at, a quite incredible sounding, my Chemical Romance/Billy Talent show. And to the best of my knowledge Brennan spend Saturday night at Kurtis' show. Likewise Paul and I spent Saturday night at the Paramore/Jimmy Eat World show. It was lots of fun. The energy levels during the Paramore show were amazing. After a while everyone a ton of people attempted crowd surfing, which, they didn't get good at until part way through the show. The best example of which was when some idiot tried to crowd surf from the back of the floor all the way to the front, no body knew he was coming, so he ended up being launched into paul's head. Paul in turn, when he realized what had hit him, gave him a big push toward the stage. However, again the lack of communication with the people ahead, caught the other audience members off-guard. No one even attempted to catch him and he was basically flung head first into the floor. He didn't try that anymore. Near the end of the show they actually got quite accomplished at it and the security guards were actually catching people as they got to the stage.
Part of the way through Jimmy's set I was feeling a bit dizzy so I went to go get some water. This was way more epic than I would have every imagined. On machine didn't take coins and they all would only take singles. I had a twenty. It took me like ten minutes to get that broken into $5's and then one of the $5's broken into $1's. Plus the first guy I asked just up and gave me $2 in quarters and then when I went to the machine and saw it wouldn't take them I gave them back, not knowing that the other machine would accept coins.
The mixture of people was hililarious. Next to us in the crowd was a group of 3 16year-olds and their mother, who was trying, in vain to heard them together as they jumped up and down with joy for four hours. I teased Paul that he kinda looked like my kindly uncle and after a while he said in a sarcastic voice "I guess I have to get you a tee-shirt now" "Why?"- me "That's what nice uncles do." hahaha
We were very close to the stage. In fact, I really didn't want to be any closer. When I returned from getting water I noticed that quite a few people were being sprinkled with the mysterious liquid that Jimmy was shaking out of his hair. I tried to mime to paul and ask him if while I was gone did Jimmy pour water in his hair but all that got me was paul's attempt to douse me with the contents of my water bottle. I meant to ask him again when the show was all over but I forgot so I guess I never know if the front row was sprinkled with water or sweat.
All in all it was a lovely time and over the weekend I managed to work a fully day (whooot, whoot for getting paid) and finish 3 papers, a 60 sentance ASL packet and finish a 200 page novel about the Reggio Emilia approach to teaching.
