"I can see Russia from my house!"

God I love Tina Fey. The woman has always been a comic genius but her parody of Sarah Palin is the funniest thing I have seen in so long. Other than the uncanny resembelance between them and her perfect impression of her, I love how she's highlighting the very reason I can't stand Sarah Palin: her total lack of knowledge in the area of international relations.

The weird thing is, I would usually be such a Republican supporter. I have been ever since I started following politics. I am pro life, I hate the idea of government interferance in our daily affairs and especially in workplace relations. I hate unions with a passion. I was in favour of the war in Iraq and I believe that we need to be aggressive in the fight against terrorism. People think that if we sit back and dont piss the enemy off they wont attack us... need I remind people that the worst Australian loss of life in a terror attack occured in Bali, 2002, the year before we went to war in Iraq.

ANYWAY the above reasons plus about a billion more are the reasons I would usually throw my support behind the Republican party but not this year. I'm actually a fan of Barack Obama and Joe Biden. I believe that they're stronger representatives of the Democratic party than we've seen in recent years. They're not cowards (unlike the Clintons), they're not soft on terrorism and they know what they're talking about.

In one of her early interviews about the Iraq war, Sarah Palin stated on the record that she did not have an opinion on the war. Of course, after subsequent media training she now has an opinion but, Jesus. John McCain is in his 70s and has had 5 bouts of cancer. If something were to happen to him, Palin would basically be running the world. She needs to be told her policy on the war. When asked pretty much anything to do with America's affairs with the rest of the world or what she was going to do about certain pertinant political issues in the field of international relations, Palin has repeatedly dodged the question, stammered something unrelated or changed the subject. Unless an answer has been prepared for her beforehand, she simply does not know. She may have knowledge on some domestic issues (such as trying to get rid of the 'protected species' title for numerous endangered animals and advocating gun use) but she knows nothing about other countries. This scares the hell out of me. She only got a passport in 2006 for God's sake.  If they had chosen Condoleezza Rice for VP candidate I would be supporting the Republican party hands down. I simply love that woman. She is brilliant.

So I am loving Tina Fey's parody of Sarah Palin. Palin makes it so easy for her. I am also loving the team of Barack Obama and Joe Biden. I believe that they are just what the world needs now.
