Here comes 1984

Today I was called "hateful," "crazy," and "short-sighted" for expressing my political opinion of Obama and the poor choices he has made. I was basically told to shut up because the dems had to "suffer" through years of Bush and now its their turn and I should support the president and give him a chance. WHAT!?

Another liberal said this to me, "When Bush was president and Democrats were speaking out against and disagreeing with his policies (not outright saying that they wanted him to fail...) they were called un-american and un-patriotic. I wonder why there isn't some outcry right now against Rush and others for these statements. Such a double standard."

AHEM. Double standard? Rush is exercising the same freedom of speech that the dems have reveled in during the past 8 years (which, by the way, they can't stop dwelling on despite their country was never attacked after 9/11 and Bush did a lot of good for the country during that time). This person actually believes that freedom of speech should change, that he should be censored? We are rolling more and more towards communism everyday, and it is frightening.

The fact that this liberal also said that democrats didn't want Bush to fail... oh really? I don't believe that for a second. I think all they wanted was for Bush to fail, that's why they had all the Anti-bush stickers, signs, count-down clocks, protests against the war, and books ridiculing him. Turn about is fair play. Sorry to tell you dems, but you have to sit back and endure it, because you voted for a man with no experience trying to run this country into the ground, and FREEDOM of SPEECH applies to BOTH sides of political spectrum. Someone actually told me that my countdown clock for Obama was offensive. Well, you know what? All the count-down clocks for Bush (which are now littering our nation's landfills) were very offensive to me, but I didn't say anything because people have the right to believe what they want. That's what America is about afterall, right?

And now I have to say this... for all the cheap words of tolerance and diversity that the left throw around, there is NO tolerance or diversity when in comes to Republicans. None. I have never felt so harassed for my beliefs than by the democrats who have said more hateful things to me than I have ever encountered in my life. Just because I believe our president is wrong, and that I hope his policies fail does not give anyone the right to call me a bigot, a racist, crazy, hateful, or any other demeaning word. That is the OPPOSITE of tolerance. I am not any of those things, but I do hate what Obama is doing to our nation. Hating what he is doing is different than hating the person. I wish people would get that.

As for our poor non-profits in the new socialist model, Obama is pretty much getting rid of the tax breaks for wealthy people (who make over $250,000) who give to non-profits. He said that the $100 million in the stimulus package should cover the difference. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's laughable! A one time government donation of $100 million to SELECT non-profits will make up for a lifetime of charitable contributions made by the wealthy who want to give? They aren't going to give without that tax incentive, not because they don't want to, but because Obama will be taking all their money in taxes and they won't have it to give! What a sad, sad day when our non-profits, universities, and charitable organizations won't get donations from their biggest supporters because the liberals feel it is unfair for the to have so much money when others don't have as much. Ugh.

Eliot and I were just discussing how much of this is going down like George Orwell's 1984. I wish more people would read that and Animal Farm, maybe then they'd understand where we are headed as a nation under this administration. Then today I ran into this quote by Rush:

"Here's a guy -- Obama -- who is the author of trillions of dollars of spending that we don't have, lying about the fact that it's all about stimulating the economy. It's Orwellian, it's 1984."

That pretty much sums it up. Please everyone, go check out a copy of 1984 from your library... it may just open your eyes.
