All will see how great is our God

"The splendor of our King, clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice

He wraps himself in Light, and darkness tries to hide
And trembles at His voice

How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God,
and all will see how great, how great is our God

Age to age He stands
And time is in His hands
Beginning and the end

The Godhead Three in One
Father Spirit Son
The Lion and the Lamb

Name above all names
Worthy of all praise
My heart will sing
How great is our God"

~Chris Tomlin

I got the sudden urge this evening to sing this song, and it was so powerful that I can't stop hearing them in my head even after I stop singing out loud. I have been doing a lot of absorbing of election media recently and I think it has all come to a head tonight before the election. He is saying to me "Stop. Nothing you will read will change anything. Only I will. Only I can."

I have been feeling this oppressive cloud on me everywhere I go, something that outright hatred of either side of this election has caused. In my life it has even turned family members bitter against one another. When will it stop? Not tomorrow. Nope. It will only stop when we decide that it is not these two men running in an election who will save the world. They can't, and they won't. Only God has that power. Like this song says, Time is in His hands. I firmly believe that, one way or another, whatever takes place tomorrow is what God wills for our country. His outcome may be one of punishment for the debauchery of our nation... one may be of the restoration of respect and honesty in the white house. I don't know what way it will go or why, but I don't need to know. God knows.

"He wraps Himself in light and darkness tries to hide and trembles at His voice." There is a darkness that has come over this country in this past year or so during this whole political race. It is the ugliest side of Americans I've ever seen. And I have a feeling it may get worse before it gets better. But God is faithful. Just listen to this:

"And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us." Romans 5:3-5

This time shall pass. Life will go on. We will find a way to live together peacefully again someday. For now I trust that God has a bigger plan, and it is much bigger than any one American president. As much as I want to see someone with integrity and honesty in the White House, I will trust that my God is faithful and always has a plan... so no matter what the decision this election day, I will know that it is all controlled by something bigger than any political party.

Besides, if Obama gets elected and tries to make us socialists we can all storm the White House and put him behind bars. :-) (I couldn't help myself!)

And this is for someone out there who needs to hear it. I don't know who, but I feel like I need to post this verse. So, for whoever you are, I am praying for you that you can see Him... He certainly sees you! :

"When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God." Romans 5:6-11
