Happy Valentine's Day

Feb 14, 2010 18:59

Parents came up to visit, and we had a lovely time. I got flowers from them, which are sitting on the desk and making the room smell fantastic. So much love there; I'm all up for the flowers. Debating whether to actually replace them eventually, after they've died, just because I like the smell so much.

I listened to Vienna Teng and read Neil Gaiman's blog instead of doing my homework, and will eventually have to remedy this. But it made for a nice afternoon anyway, and tomorrow's test is not real until I say it is, so.

There has been no indulging in singles-blues, mostly just because I can't be bothered to be a traditional single person on this day, and have spurned the idea of being mopey. I shall make myself some pink cake batter cookies, and tomorrow go to Target and buy halfprice chocolate, and I will consider this a V day well spent. One hell of an unproductive weekend, but who's counting. Who knows, maybe in the holiday spirit I'll go read Thirteenth Tale instead of my jazz book, finish things up with a little badly timed rebellion that I will regret tomorrow.

And, my present to all, a Valentine's poem, not by me, but snagged from Neil Gaiman's blog:

Roses are red,
Violets are purple,
Which is a very hard word to rhyme
And makes me happy that on February the 14th we don't traditionally have to give each other oranges.

The year of the tiger sort of screwed this up for him [the poem was written in 2009 and reposted today,] but he acknowledges this, and basically just says have fun with it anyway.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!
