I think the show can only improve from here. Stephen Moffat is taking over as head writer, and he's consistently written some of my favorite episodes (The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances and Silence in the Library/The Forest of the Dead), whereas Russell T Davies was going more than a little bit insane.

I loved the ending of the ep. I could've cared less about the whole evil Timelords/Master is a nutcase plot line, but oh man, Ten and Wilf made an awesome team, and popping in to see everyone one last time, just so awesome. Loved it.

I have high hopes, but they're tempered with the "what if he goes power crazy and tries to send it in a totally new direction?" fears. But those are there whenever there's a change in writers, and I agree...Davies was losing it completely. And Moffat is absolutely brilliant, no arguments there. I just hope we get someone from the previous seasons in episode 1 of the fifth series...ease the transition a little ( ... )

But Jack doesn't need his life saved; he can't die. Best Doctor could do was give him someone fun to play with. Who knows? If Torchwood ever rebuilds, maybe Alonzo will make an appearance there.

Now that would be an...interesting twist. Though I'm actually more afraid that new torchwood is going to include the [suddenly married?] Mickie and Martha. I don't know if I could handle a whole season of that.

And I know it was probably the best the doctor could do...but my little fangirl had the impossible hopes for a scene of the doctor and Jack commiserating with each other. But I know when my dreams are unrealistic. :)

Yeah, what the hell was the Martha/Mickey thing? Wasn't she engaged to the doctor dude from the end of S03? Because that's what she says during The Sontaran episodes. But apparently when they run off together at the end of s04 we're supposed to infer that they're a thing now... or something. Like I said, RTD is a nut.

Maybe it was really far in the future...? That's all I can give it. But writer-with-head problem is way more likely.

This show hurts my brain even when everything makes sense.
