Mommy Dearest :)

As of Wednesday, my dad is officially moved into the new apartment in Illinois.

From what mom says, he absolutely loves it.  I can't say I blame him.

It's a 3-bedroom basement apartment, but "basement" really means "built into a hill", so at the front of the house it's the first floor, but at the back it's a basement.  Meaning it's cheap to cool AND still has sunlight.

Plus, it's 1.5 times the size of the trailer I grew up in, which they've lived in for the last 30 years.

AND, the ceilings are more than 7 feet high.

Yeah.  I know.

I called mom yesterday, and she just sounds giddy about it all.  She moves down at the end of the month, once she's ridden out her last 2 weeks.  Everything just sounds so great.  And, as one might expect, she just *cannot* wait to get out of that place.  It just gets harder and harder to live in the tundraland.

I definitely know where she's comin' from.  I was there about 7 (or 8...or...18....) years ago.

I'm excited for them.

On a selfish note, though, regardless of the fact that I'm sure it'll suck for mom to stick around the MT for another two weeks, without daddy, I must share my DDA:

When I call my mom now, she is very obviously really, really excited to hear from me.
Sure, it's probably just the being alone in an empty trailer thing, but...I like to pretend it's just because of my sheer wonderfulness.

Don't rain on my illusion :)
