He didn't care if he wasn't safe there, not anymore. He didn't even have a reason to fight anymore. The rest of them fought for a home, a family, a friend even. What was he fighting for? Why should he keep on killing people too, their families and friends? Where was their God now, the one that would supposedly protect them?

Bullshit, he thought, either God doesn't give a shit about us, or He has other plans. But why allow a kid, my fucking little sister, to get killed? Why my mother? They were both innocent and had nothing to do with this.

He knew that he had to keep believing. He knew because otherwise, he would loose his sanity, have nothing at all to believe in. But loosing your best friend in front of your eyes brought him as his limit. It was finally the point all he believed was that God had abandoned him, him and his country in general.

"Kai..." he whispered, his eyes watering. He started pulling at his blond hair, eyes squeezing shut, trying to hold back his tears. Did his life even have a meaning anymore? Everyone he had ever really loved, family or friends, were all dead. Why was he still alive anyway? He started wiping his eyes, do we really expect God to save us? It's the only way to be saved from this mess anyway.

He felt so tired, from life, from war... he knew he wasn't healthy either and it was like he was starving himself, he hadn't eaten for a day anyway. He didn't have any appetite.

Suddenly, he saw an overwhelming white light in front of him, and narrowing his eyes, he stood up. He stared at it for a few moments, wondering if he was dreaming, but it felt vivid. With hesitant steps, he started walking towards it. It was like he was magnetized by it, because he hadn't really noticed going its way.

Is this the end?, he questioned, it was very much like what he've heard. Going towards the white light to find the end. He felt the corners of his lips twitch upwards at the thought, at least he wouldn't have to commit suicide.

But as he walked a bit in it, he felt a really strong presence instead, and he was wondering if it was God, if he would go to heaven after all. It couldn't be... it gave a dark feeling, a feeling of fear... and as he narrowed his eyes again, unable to see in all this light, he could make out a figure but nothing much about it.

"Akira" a heavy voice started, making him flinch. He had changed that name long ago. His heart was beating fast "You need salvation to live? I can offer it to you".

The words made him bit his lip in fear, but he knew he wanted it. He knew he needed it.

"You can either wait for your God for as long as you'd like" the heavy voice went on, now it sounded stronger. "Or you can listen to me. I can give you anything. Power, money" it paused, and when it talked again, it had some certain assurance in it. "I can free you from this misery. I can give you the power to revenge anyone you have lost" that triggered him. He knew what he was getting himself into, he did. But this was really tempting. What did he have to loose anyway? He had lost everyone and everything. He would either kill himself or do something useful eventually. God wouldn't just suddenly remember him after all.

"What do you ask from me?" Reita asked, his voice loud but he noticed it too, it was trembling. He was still afraid. He knew what all this meant.

"All I ask is your faith in me. You must worship me. To give you all this I need power. Give me the power to save you" it had started fading, and soon the light faded away too. The blond fell down, feeling overwhelmed. His face was wet; he hadn't noticed. He started panting, he would do it. He needed to. For now, he had to return to the military camp, it was getting late already.

As he walked back to the 'room' he shared with another seven men, he didn't notice a figure watching him with a sad, disappointed face.

"What am I going to do with you..." a sad, soft voice whispered. The brunet sighed and flew into the room, careful not to bump his white and big winds anywhere. He stood above Reita's bed and kept his eyes down. "I have failed with you haven't I. Giving you too much freedom, maybe" he smiled bitterly, feeling a tear roll down his cheek. He leaned over the figure and kissed his forehead, closing his eyes down. "I'm sorry" he whispered, making his wings stick to his body as he sneaked below the covers as well; he knew he wouldn't be felt anyway. So he held himself closely to the taller figure, burying his face into his chest. "It's my fault..." he had let him think of all this. He hadn't given him some kind of sign that it would all be okay, and now this happened. He couldn't even prevent it anymore.

So, he wrapped his wings around the strong body, as if trying to protect it. It was too late, though. And it was probably the only night the blond felt safe, even if he had long since abandoned the thought of the Guardian Angel.
