My brother sent me a text message on Wednesday saying had I realised I was now in an eligible category to book my covid vaccination because the age range had moved down a year. I thought you had to wait for a letter but once you are eligible apparently not. I got a slot next day at the most hilariously appropriate place possible seeing as, after his wife and children (hopefully), Crystal Palace FC is the love of my brother's life. Crystal Palace are one of the football clubs whose grounds are being used as a Covid vaccination centre and as I wasn't offered the closest place to us and Selhurst Park is a pretty easy walk for me it seemed the obvious choice. I trotted off there on Thursday and got jabbed. Everyone was really nice and they were doing their best to keep everyone as socially distanced as possible. We were also asked to put on NHS masks so when I was inside I was double masked which gave an extra feeling of security. I got the Astra Zeneca vaccine and apart from a slightly sore arm still and feeling a bit tired I have had no ill-effects from it. I won't be happy until J is vaccinated too (he's slightly younger than I am) but it is a big relief to have had it done as I thought I was going to have to wait longer. An hour after I got home my NHS letter arrived. Thank you NHS, Crystal Palace, all the volunteers who were shepherding us about, and my brother.
After that excitement (and people in the queue with me were calling it "a day out") back to the meme.
25. What’s the most recent show you’ve binge watched?
We don't really binge watch much but the last series we watched two episodes of in one evening, which is our definition of binge watching, was The Investigation, which was a Danish series shown on BBC2, about the real life investigation into the murder of Swedish journalist Kim Wall. It focused on the police investigation into the crime and the effect on Kim Wall's parents and never showed or named the killer. It was very slow at times but also oddly gripping as getting the evidence to convict the killer was a very fraught process and at times it looked as if they were going to fail. We found it very involving. The series I would like to binge watch now but, fortunately, can't is
Unforgotten starring Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar, which is one of my favourite crime dramas. Luckily ITV knows it works best if you watch it gradually so they haven't put it up on the ITV Hub and I can't gulp it down.
26. What conclusions did you make about money as a child?
That saving my pocket money to buy books was a good thing to do. The more expensive the book the more I needed to save ergo saving is good. My grandmother's favourite saying was "neither a borrower or a lender be" so that probably influenced me too.
27. What would you like to have less of in your work right now?
Very luckily for me I'm retired so the question doesn't apply.
The last February question is behind the cut.
28. What did you love to do as a child?
