They're changing guard at Buckingham Palace

I went to Buckingham Palace today to take my mum to see *the* wedding dress. I'm exhausted so heaven knows how she is, but we had a good time and even the weather was kind. Going anywhere with my mum is an exercise in logistical difficulties as we have to find the easiest possible way to get from place to place because she can't walk any distance. ( Read more... )

I must go to Buckingham Palace - I imagine its quieter outside school holidays. Hope you've recovered from the trip :-)

Just about *g*.

I'm not sure how quiet a visit to Buckingham Palace would be at any time. There were some children there, but not many of them and it was still very busy. The crowds kept moving though, apart from in the Faberge exhibition which is why we skipped it (and we'd also seen much of it a different exhibition).

I should have labelled that photo better because it's actually the Buckingham Palace garden, but I love Green Park too. The last time I was walking in it (in search of elephants but don't ask) I saw a guy down on one knee proposing to his girlfriend under a tree. It was so romantic!

I am trying to buy tickets for 2 weekend's time.

Good luck. I couldn't get the first date we wanted so I think the tickets were selling fast.

She was really keen on those earrings. The fact that she hasn't had her ears pierced might have made wearing them a bit problematical though.

I really enjoyed looking at the photographs of the exhibit and even listening the podcast by the dress designer. It truly is a lovely, lovely gown that is beautifully made. Thank you for sharing.

My pleasure :) It is definitely a most beautiful dress and it was nice to have a clearer view of all the detailed work that went into it.
