Hi everyone! This week has been an eventful week here in Singapore. I did not travel anywhere this weekend, but I'll be off to Bali, Indonesia this upcoming Friday. =]
Last Thursday was my program's Farewell Dinner. We ate at the Ritz Carlton buffet to have a last complete get together dinner before everyone has to worry about exams and start flying home. I have less than a month here in Singapore and Southeast Asia left! Anyway, dinner was fantastic and everyone was very dressed up and beautiful looking. It was a memorable night!
This is me and my date, Kyle:
Then Friday I had tickets for an art show presented by TheatreWorks. I wasn't sure if anyone else was interested in it except for me, but I took my friend Cassy. It turned out to be sooooooooo cool! Like an art show I'd end up attending back in Los Angeles. This show was pretty empty though.. and of those that showed up, they were almost all foreigners. I guess Singapore does not really appreciate the arts. Anyway, we walked into a huge room with projectors pointing to 2 walls offering us a huge screen of animation. A DJ sits on the floor in the front and plays us her music. There are huge bean bags all around the room for you to lie down on. Very cool layout.
Earlier in the night my friends texted me about going to Blue Jazz Bar to watch a friend of ours perform. His performance ended by the time our art show ended but we came to watch the other performers anyway, and that bar is a really hip and happening place. In Madrid, my favorite bar was also a jazz bar so I was pretty excited to have discovered this one. I got to hang out with a lot of friends, and the performance we caught was outstanding! The singer had such a strong voice and such presence. I enjoyed the band very much. Afterwards, a jazz DJ came on and everyone started dancing! Just lots of fun all around. Here are a few pictures of me and my friends at the bar.
Yesterday I went to Arab Street for dinner with Megan and Guillaume (a French guy I met at the art show). Today I spent most of the day at the library, and all my evening with my friend Ben from Texas just talking. I love my friends! Ben is especially nice and sadly I didn't get to hang out with him much here in Singapore, but he's wayyy cool. I found out we had soo much in common. Hopefully he visits me in Los Angeles, as many other friends talked about doing. I have many friends I would like to visit also, just a question of time and money after this. =]
Anyway, that's all for now. I miss you all a lot and will see you all again in less than a month! Mark your calendars: May 5th!!
Love,
Kathy
