I really hate the cold. But, I've complained about that a lot recently already. So instead of complaining some more now, I'm going to write a list of things I like about the cold (and this time of year), to try and convince myself that it's not so bad really.
- I like when it's so cold that the water in the taps comes out as if it's been in the fridge, it gives a much more refreshing drink than in Summer when the pipes have warmed up.
- I like sitting inside the house with my dressing gown, a blanket and a cup of tea, looking out the window at how cold it is and being glad that I'm not outside.
- I like the pretty patterns that ice and frost make.
- I like wrapping up in my warmest clothes, coat, boots, hat, scarf and gloves and playing in the snow, before coming in and having a warm bowl of soup by the fire.
- I like taking photos in Autumn and Winter, when the landscape is totally different to the rest of the year.
- I like hot water bottles.
- I like the whole range of warm clothing that comes out in the shops when the weather changes.
- I like comfort food like stews and soup, that just don't feel right at other times of year.
- I like when you randomly get a day when it's really cold but also really sunny.
- I like when it rains a lot on a dark morning, and all the car lights reflect in puddles on the road and splish-splash around.
- I like the build-up to Christmas.
- I like Winter crafts.
That's all I can think of for now, but I might add to the list later. Feel free to comment with your own things you like about the cold/Winter.
