"I like the stars. It's the illusion of permanence, I think. I mean, they're always flaring up and caving in and going out. But from here I can pretend...I can pretend that things last. I can pretend that things last longer than moments. Gods come and gods go, mortals flicker flash and fade. Worlds don't last; and stars and galaxies are transient, fleeting things that twinkle like fireflies and vanish into cold and dust...But I can pretend."
~Neil Gaiman, The Sandman.
Wow! Why has it taken me so long to read this!? I've been a fan of Gaiman's books for years, and have been aware of the character of Dream, since before that. But for the life of me I can't fathom why it's taken so long. I only have the first volume...and I've already devoured it in a single sitting. I desperately need more to buy the other three. It's beautiful work. Constantine and Hellboy have long been my favorites but it seems Dream will devour them.
Maybe I can find them on amazon and get them used for a cheaper price... So begins the hunt.
