I'm now officially in trouble within my hall of residence. Now don't get excited, it's nothing exciting.
The back story is that after exams in january we had to move from our old rooms in Old Wing into new rooms in Lumsden. Whereas everyone else had a couple days to accomplish this and set up their new living space, I was leaving the next morning at 7am, so I had no time to unpack. Flash Forward to me coming back to school, I had 1 day and then off to The Burn, for the Gilbert and Sullivan Charity concert and weekend get away, returning me to campus the night before classes start. At this point I have still had no time to unpack and set up my room. Classes start, and so do my rehearsals. My schedule
Monday classes until 2, rehearsal from 6-10
Tuesday classes until 2 rehearsals from 7-10
Wednesday classes until 12 rehearsal 6-10
Thursday classes until 2 rehearsals unknown
Friday classes until 2 night off
Saturday rehearsals ALL DAY
Sunday rehearsals and choir ALL DAY
Figure in the odd a cappella rehearsal with the accidentals, auditions, volunteering, you probably get the picture that I spend no time here.
All other hours I spend studying, getting my courses together and figuring out my tutorial schedules. This is not an empty life, this is not a lifestyle that lends hours to room time where I sit in my room and smile about what an accomplished homemaker I am. I am not homemaker. I'm not like my neighbors who spend hours everyday in their rooms watching movies and making loud noise(oddly always in the few hours I manage to be in hall for sleeping). I'm busy and thats how I like it, and I know its ridiculous to get punished because a woman who wants to come into my room and vacuum(not that she actually wants to and she knows I don't want her to) during my arabic review time?
Its not surprising to me that as one of the busiest people in hall I'm also one of the messiest, its an understandable formula, lack of spare time->mess. But its ridiculous all the same. Even worse this will hurt my chances of getting back in hall for the fall, even though I contribute a lot to the community and don't break things or make things difficult for the wardenial team.
Its all just stupid. If they send me an e-mail about it I will be a upset, they expect everyone to have the time to fit their cookie cutter image of getting drunk, partying and keeping a tidy room with the extra 5 hours a day of free time. But I don't, I participate in societies and have a life outside hall, and I'm happy that way. ugh. Hopefully they will get over it and realize i've been in hall a good week less that everyone else so far and take that into account before there is any "disciplinary" action. Yes, I am going to be disciplined for not being tidy.
Don't you just LOVE St Andrews? Its perfect.
So far my classes seem great. I'm taking four which means I have a lot of research essays due in a very short time period... Hopefully I can get those all done or mostly written before april vacation. I better start getting ready for rehearsal.........I like it this way.
