What would cause only my left foot to swell up with persistent pitting edema? It's showing up nowhere else on my whole body.

Edit: well, tamidon effectively scared the crap out of me, and I called the doctor -- apparently the character of it is very, very consistent with a DVT, so I have an emergency appointment in an hour and a half ( Read more... )

Left foot/ankle is most common. Your interior vena cava bears to the right, making the left foot/ankle the farthest distance from your heart. Right foot/ankle generally swells after the left already is or has started if you get it in both extremities.

Compression socks do wonders.

I think this might be beyond compression socks; my foot is numb and tingly, and I can leave a 3/4" divot in the top of it, and the swelling ends so abruptly above my ankle that it almost leaves a ridge.

Um, eek.

You're not allowed to have a DVT because a) you're not a tranny on estrogens and b) I still need to bum that BSG off you.
