i have mud on my shoes because today is the second day of spring. the first day happened a little while ago. a delicious tease it was, melting all the snow and reminding my skin that it wasn’t made to be covered with wool and sleeping-bag-sleeves. i went home for a good long taste of it. i filled my starving soul with sparkling green hills-the hills are green now. (who knew that such yellow hills could turn so bright green whenever they wanted?)-and bluest sky and lambs and vineyards of black sticks still sleeping, and brilliant gold mustard flowers wide awake. i filled my starving soul through my eyes, and held each beauty as a treasure to take back with me to the frozen, white and gray desert. but i needed these jewels less than i thought for today is the second day of spring and i have mud on my shoes. i climbed a tree today and read a book while the chilly, new spring breeze shook all the winter out of my curls.
a song from chrono trigger spontaneously leapt into my head about 10 minutes ago. i do not know what to make of it. i have not played that game in six months. can you believe it has been six months already? it half feels like a thousand years and it half feels like barely one day. anyway, that has nothing to do with spring.
