A 'little surprise' at this morning's staff meeting: harrykim detected what appears to be a large debris field from the destruction of a Borg cube. The days are gone when news of that sort brought rejoicing; our experiences with Species 8472 have reinforced the truism that there's always a bigger bully in the schoolyard to worry about. No idea what destroyed this particular Borg cube; seven_of_nine suggested we run close-range scans on the hull fragments. Our present course would take us directly there, but I think we're going to steer clear, contenting ourselves with long range sensors for now. No telling if whatever caused the destruction is still somewhere close by, and I don't want to be caught unawares.
