All systems go

I've made my decision.

Tomorrow morning, as scheduled, we will be engaging the slipstream drive. I've gone over harrykim's plan in detail, and have decided it's worth following. With the Delta Flyer a few seconds ahead of us in the slipstream, sending us the course corrections, we should be able to compensate and avoid the disastrous variance of the simulations. Harry and chakotay will be in the Flyer. I briefly considered including a third party, either paristorres or seven_of_nine as well, but they will be of more use on board Voyager. As will _tom_paris_, at the helm of the ship.

I've thought long and hard before arriving at this decision, taking everything possible into consideration. I also discussed this thoroughly with Chakotay, but he made it quite clear the final call was mine.

I think Chakotay was convinced I had already come to a decision without any input from him, but that wasn't the case. Yes, I *was* leaning toward following Harry's plan, but if Chakotay had given me any serious opposition, hell, any reason whatsoever, I would have decided against it. Despite my longing for home, and the disappointment this would entail. He's my first officer; I know he doesn't think I listen to him much of the time, but I do. I just don't always agree with him, that's all. But I *do* emphatically value his opinions. And him...

When I asked him if he was with me, he said, "Always."

Always.

That's something to hold on to, these last few hours before we embark on what very well may be our final adventure in the Delta Quadrant.
