summer = fun.

where do i begin? i finished my second grad class and unexpectedly got another 4.0. woo! i decided not to take another class, so i could actually have somewhat of a vacation (okay and because i don't think i could afford a summer II and a fall class and the class i need to take is in the fall) -- my first one with nothing to do since last summer. those other three weeks off during the school year always consist of my working my butt off trying to catch up on my correcting and lesson planning. i will need to start preparing for the end of august but i think i'm gonna start that when i go camping next week.

so. as i was saying. my vacation has been a blast. i went camping for a week up in truro with my coworker kendra. the usual was accomplished -- biking, winery, beach, icecream. it was over the 4th of july so it was packed, but we got to see fireworks and the p-town parade -- very interesting! no surfing though :( but i went back up there to nickerson for two nights a week later. court joined me for a day at the beach and i ended up surfing at nauset. i wish i lived near a surfable beach. so much fun. i also did a nice 24 mile bike ride one morning.

i also ended up going to rochester to visit kriti, and seeing as i was close, i went to niagara on the lake to visit relatives in canada. kriti and i ate, drank, and watched movies. we also went to the renaissance fair and to the beach on lake ontario. i'm sorry people, but it is not like the ocean! canada was a blast too. i went on the maid of the mist -- right up to the falls. first time seeing the falls -- they were pretty cool. also went on the whirlpool jet boat tour -- basically white water rafting but in a real boat and you get much more wet -- soaked from head to toe. i visited a few wineries -- there are over 30 in that town. went for a couple of nice runs around peach orchards. it was nice to see family i hadn't seen in awhile.

right when i got back i went to two nights of dave. i'd already seen them twice this summer at fenway -- AMAZING. and the two CT shows were good too. got to hear some songs i hadn't heard live before, and some old favorites. but now the dave is done for the summer and that's sad :(

i went to boston to have lunch with liz and do some back to school bargain shopping and i'm heading back there this week to go climbing with pete. i finally made it to nashoba winery too with liz, jen, and kelly to pick peaches and do some wine tasting. mucho fun. add to that a bunch of nights out with my girls and guys, including a couple of random parties, and iv'e had a good summer.

i'm also coaching at soccer camp this week. 8 and 9 year olds. eek. they did find a coach for the fall though, so i am relieved of that duty! i need to find a second job that is a bit more lucrative. i am hoping for tutoring, but i am not above doing retail.

why the need for the second job? cause i bought a new car! a 2006 silver AWD Toyota Matrix XR. a little more than i wanted to spend, but i got a really good deal. it's got alloy wheels and a sunroof too :) i'm still paying under $300 a month cause i wiped out my savings with the down payment, but my measly teacher's paycheck won't cut it with the raised insurance. plus my student loans are going up in december.

trying to get back into running. my shins are behaving rather well. my knees are so-so. but my asthma has been killing me. i've been doing 3 miles this week, but i need to take one or two walking breaks in the middle to stop the wheezing. i really wanna do a spring triathlon next year. the biking is down, i think i can do the swimming -- it's only .25 miles, but the running is worrying me. i don't want to have to walk any of the 3/3.5 miles! we'll see. my shins might start acting up again anyway and my asthma won't make a difference.

the only thing i have left is my 10 day camping trip in truro. the waves at head of the meadow suck this year cause the sandbar didn't form well, but if i have to i'll drive down 25 minutes to nauset every evening to get some surfing in :) lots of biking too i hope. and, of course, prepping for the first couple weeks of school.

wow this is long! i gotta head to the gym to lift. so peeeeeeeeace!
