Forth Sunday of Lent

Mar 22, 2009 21:55

Why do we so often struggle with our destiny, with our situation? Because we are not satisfied with what we have?
Why do we feel it is unjust if somebody else has more of something than we do, if we ourselves do have enough? How do we know what other things the other person struggles with?
Can we not just say "Thank You, God" for what we have?

Lent is halfway over. We can look forward to Easter. It is coming soon. In a way it is already here: Christ is risen! What else do we need to be happy?

Yes, we are human. We have our wishes, our dreams, our expectations. But we also have this, they are feelings we possess: Thankfulness. Humility. Mercy. Love. Joy.

We can look at what we have been given, not at what we have (or think we have) NOT been given.
We can be happy for other people who have been given beautiful things.
We can remember that somehow we are all one anyway, that my joy is your joy and your joy is mine and ours theirs and theirs ours.

That we don't need all the luxury we sometimes think we need.

That a lot of beauty lies in simplicity.

That whatever happens and whatever way we are led, GOD KNOWS WHY.

That we need not let feelings of anger and dissatisfaction make things we see as unpleasant become even worse.

That we can try to make the best of everything. And look at everything (and everyone) with love.
