If we fast and feel hunger, we also learn to appreciate simple foodstuffs more again. How wonderful a thing a dry piece of bread is for a hungry child! The simplicity of a piece of fruit... maybe this could be another way to fast: To appreciate our food more. To look at that apple and appreciate its beauty before we eat it.
God has created such beautiful things! And so tasty! Do we really need five star meals to be able to say "this is delicious"? Maybe if we are never really hungry, we need things to taste really exclusive or really sweet in order to enjoy them. While when we are hungry, when our stomach is rumbling: Just a roll will do. Will taste wonderful. A bowl of rice, like people eat them in many countries.
We can also be more aware of wasting food. Ask ourselves: Do we really have to throw that away? just because we think we might not feel like eating rice again tomorrow, or tonight?
Do we really have to be so choosy?
