i wish there were more hours in the day. i should just not work so much.

glad that the guy i'm doing contract work for is busy and that the site is important, but not time-sensitive, so that he can take his time getting back to me about things and I can leisurely play around as I like and send him things, at the stage the project's at now.

A portrait of my dad which is going to be a present for my mother. Still needs some work -- it's not enough of a likeness yet and I need to find some white (this is done with black acrylic and water on primed canvas) paint. But it's definitely a start.

One of the reasons I had so little time today was because I spent three hours at art history. I love that when you're reading a painter talking about their work, or you're just sort of thinking about it, some idea under which they were working makes at least a basic amount of sense. Then you continue to think about it and realise that their strict adherence to the idea becomes a brilliant example that the idea doesn't make sense in the way they were thinking -- but thinking more, you understand why it was useful for them to continue working in adherence to the idea.

I've been thinking about art a lot, between this and Studio Theory and Art History and reading mass numbers of feeds. It's fun.
