chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Ah yes, snow and snow and snow. The wetland behind our house has filled with snow. The lake is snow covered. Flakes are drifting lazily down. Sparrow, juncos, chickadee, finches, a nuthatch and a cardinal are cuddled in the front yard bushes, now and then flying over to eat birdseed. I am sleepy. The Sears man just came to replace the over door, which had half fallen away from its moorings. Yesterday the funace man gave the heating system a clean bill of health. I haven't got an open fire right now. Nor, for that matter, do I have any chestnuts. Today is the kind of day to sit and idly watch the trees fill up with snow.
