Friday was a busy day. After getting the house straight in the morning a bunch of us went over to the Wharf to decorate the room. We finished up around five and some people went home to get ready while the rest of us piled back to ours. After tea I helped all the kiddie sget into their outfits adn got changed myself, then it was back to the Wharf for the Ball :)
It wasn't as well attended as we expected, but it was a great night :) Tim had a good selection of music which included things like 'The Monster Mash', 'Thriller' and 'The Timewarp' to name a few, as well as rock, dance and even some disco :) Having practically everyone in the room lined up in rows doing the timewarp was great fun. Tristan slept through most of it, despite the noise rofl but everyone thought he looked really cute in his skeleton outfit :) Costumes were admired, especially Sarah's tudor outfit. My favourite out of all the other costumes was one of Tim's friends, Dave, who came as a cowboy on a horse. The horse was inflatable, but it was really effective :D I had the chance to get some dancing in...someone asked me where I got the energy after giving birth two weeks ago.....and time to catch up with some friends we don't see that often. The glow sticks and Halloween lucky dip went down well with all the youngsters and they soon formed their own group and kept each other amused for the majority of the night, so all the parents got a bit of a break too :)
We finished around half past midnight and everyone went their separate ways. We actually got a lot of Thank You's, which I wasn't expecting, from people on their way out, which is always a pleasant surprise :)
We did most of the clearing up while Tim was taking down essential equipment that had to be moved that night, but the remainder of the lights and decorations were taken down on Saturday afternoon, when we had all had a chance to recover a bit lol
Samhein proper is Wednsday, but I don't know if we are doing anything this year as we have Tristan to consider, so an outdoor ritual is unlikely. To be honest I think this year it will just be a mainly family celebration as I don't think my energy levels will cope with organising another event so soon :s
A big THANK YOU to all who helped out......you know who you are ;)..... we couldn't have done it without you.
