Robert paced the room, looking angrily at the script in his hand, before throwing it down on the coffee table. Looking from where they were seated on the couch, Hugh watched Robert’s actions before slipping his arm around Lisa’s waist and allowing her to snuggle into his arms. Across the room, at a small plastic card table, Jen and Olivia sat, heads bent over bowls of salad, giggling. Running his hand up Lisa’s thigh, Hugh kissed her cheek, earning a few surprised glances from the cast members in the room. But they received a slightly bigger surprise when Lisa turned towards him, kissing him full on the lips, before curling up in his lap.
“What the hell you two?” Robert looked towards them, abandoning his angry pacing. Glancing innocently at Lisa, whose head lay in his lap, Hugh shrugged, resting his hand on Lisa’s waist.
“That’s not fair!” He went on, “No kissing off set.”
“What about you and Jesse?” Hugh laughed, feeling Lisa shift in his lap.
“I’m not gay!” Robert cried, his voice almost a whine.
“Oh yes you are,” Jen laughed, “Your new nickname shall be gay Robbie!” She giggled again, then resumed her own conversation with Olivia.
“No! Not that! I want to be called Dr. VonCutesy!” He pointed to the bear sitting on the coffee table, “That’s Dr. VonCutesy-Bear.” Lisa rolled her eyes, sitting up so she was almost sitting in Hugh’s lap, and she leaned back, Hugh automatically wrapping his arms around her waist.
“Okay, okay,” Robert said again, “No kissing, or suggestive touching off set!” He fixed his eyes on the people in front of him, “Hugh, Lisa - that means no using Cuddy’s desk as a place for sex just because that’s totally what House has in mind every time he walks into her office.”
“We are not having sex!” Lisa cried, a blush creeping on her cheeks, and Hugh elbowed her.
“Okay,” Olivia turned, “Fine, prove it and don’t kiss Hugh.”
“Why would I?”
“For fifty bucks, “ Jen smiled, “I dare Lisa Edelstein to make out with Hugh Laurie, right now.”
“For both of us?” Hugh asked, his arms already around Lisa’s waist.
“Fine, but you two both owe us fifty if you chicken.”
“Who said I was?” Hugh pressed his lips firmly against Lisa’s, allowing their lips to move against one another’s for a few moments before jaws dropped around them. Not only had they noticed that Hugh’s silver wedding band was missing, but that Lisa was wearing a simple gold band on her ring finger with a small blue stone in it. The minute the two of them pulled back, they were bombarded with questions.
“Did you get divorced already Hugh?” Jen asked quietly.
“You’re the lucky guy Lisa?” Olivia was half screaming.
“Are you engaged?!” That was Robert, who was looking excitedly between them.
“One, yes, I did finalize my divorce with Jo. Two, I’m Lisa’s fiancee, so three, yes we are engaged.” Hugh responded quickly, keeping his arm wrapped tightly around Lisa’s waist.
