past holiday
Only today, surfing through the ontd_spnparty, I understood why there are so many gifs with fireworks. I am an ignorant bitch. Sorry, ppl!
Congratulations on the 4th of July, Americans (that’s gone now but still)!!
We had our holiday too the previous day - on the 3rd of July. It’s called Independence Day, but it’s a total crap. It was the day when our capital (Minsk) was finally free from the Nazi (year 1945). I don’t see this as a national red-letter day called “independence”. Btw it was not about Independence - it was like a “9th of May - 2nd take” (9th of May - is an official Victory day).
So there was a perfect irony. Because there was a football game that day (July the 3rd) where the Germans won. So a bunch of teenagers with German flags singing German songs interacted greatly with the patriotic Soviet music and the whole celebration “we-freed-Luciferour country-from-the-Nazis”.
I lol’d. Really.
Anyway it was a great day and I hope you, my American friends, had your fun too.
