You know those scifi props everyone uses but aren't true?
So to go along with the one about "we only use 10% of our brains, so a person who uses 100% is amazing" you can throw in the whole idea of destroying a society with an EMP - researchers are talking about making mechanical computers that will be slower than electrical ones but more energy-efficient. Not that mechanical computers didn't exist before, obviously, but they are not very widely used.
