Yesterday Becky and I thoroughly cured the "Sunday Blues" by spontaneously taking a left turn.
Our craving for a bookstore led us into Seattle. At Elliott Bay Book Company I went straight to the history section and picked up a book about India and the British Raj. I sat down on the creeky wooden floor. With my back against the Civil War section I was lulled into a sort of tranquility by the warm thick air and nearby humming of the fan. Lost to legends, myths, wars, scents, colors...a blissful isolation. We wandered through stores full of expensive clothes; it felt like christmas. Driving in the car, coffee down the front of us, goofy laughter and witty remarks. A relaxed satisfaction. No longer clutching and grasping.
