The good news? The show is improving for me.

The bad news? It's not improving fast or consistently enough.

Here we go! Spoilers! )

Ah, but Sacred Bob noticed a statue moving, and Octavian took him down a notch for it.

Ten being numb in the Library was a throwback to Nine in Bad Wolf, and to me it says that he cares about Donna deeply (and yeah, i noticed the catch, too, among other things...i can't decide if Moff is that dense or if he's planning something and lying through his teeth about it).

It's funny, i always jokingly complain about Martha being around in Sontarans and Doctor's Daughter, but i wanted Jack to be a companion longer. i like having more than on companion (in fact, it's just about the only thing i like about episodes with One), i just wish that they would all stay together for a longer period of time, not require us meeting a new "companion" every week (which i actually don't feel you can call someone a companion until they've travelled in the Tardis).

I know, it's really odd, but i wouldn't have a problem with River being a future incarnation, while i have been dead set against the Doctor being able to regenerate into a woman in the past. There are obvious problems with that, however, because River didn't recognize Donna (i guess amnesia is a possibility) and i'm pretty sure that River and the Doctor have touched (i seem to remember hand holding in the Library, if nothing else). Maybe Tardis gave River the pictures?

i wondered about Amy knowing about salutes/sir, too: it didn't come up in VotD.

Well if River is a future incarnation of the Doctor, she could have been lying about not knowing Donna so as to not tip off Donna and change the timeline. *shrugs*

I have my own theories and thoughts and we'll see how they shake out in canon.

And she does admit that she lies a lot...

I presumed that he thought he saw that it had moved. He couldn't actually see it moving, surely, since they can't move when you look at them.

I agree completely about Ten being numb because of Donna, but River's reaction to him does leave him speechless as well.

I don't know why, but I see Jack set apart from other companions. Perhaps because he seems quite happy as a third wheel when he's around the Doctor and doesn't steal the limelight in the way that other companions do. I don't mind having multiples if everyone gets a complete story and about equal screentime. It's when this doesn't happen that I feel cheated.

I do usually cringe at the idea of a female Doctor because it feels like equal opportunity gone mad, but perhaps because Alex's River has such strong elements of the Doctor, I can accept it. Either that or I find it more acceptable than the idea of her married to him. The concept of the Doctor settling down to married bliss in canon doesn't work for me, as often as I do it in fanon.

I'd like to think there's a deleted scene somewhere that explains the saluting thing...
