Animal Emergencies

My daughter gets off work at 9:30'ish and when she and her room-mate went home last night the room-mates cat was sitting on a chair with a 3 inch gash in it's front fore-arm. My daughter immediately called the emergency vet, wrapped the cat in a towel, and had her boyfriend drive her to VCA. I called her, just to see how her day went and her boyfriend answered the phone and told me what was going on. I went to the VCA and saw my daughter COVERED in cat hair and her boyfriend had a huge scratch on his arm with blood from it all over the front of his shirt. He tried to pick up the cat before my daughter got home and look at it's arm. He ended up having to wait because the cat, being a typical cat did not want to be touched by him. Anyway the cat had surgery last night as the gash was into the muscle. The kitty is very quiet this morning.

I am glad that I had my daughter's dogs (my "grand"dog) as the biggest dog tries to play with the cats and having a 85 pound mostly grown pup pounce on you is not always fun for the cats. Anyway with it being the room-mates cat the fact that the dogs were not there when it happened is a good thing. We still have no idea how the cat got the gash and can find no signs of blood in the house.

Having a credit card for the vet is one of the best things I have ever done. : )
