The other day a friend of mine asked me a simple question that I was nonetheless unable to answer: "What do you eat?"
I had no idea. For someone who enjoys food as much as I do, this shouldn't be a hard question. I usually eat at restaurants a few times a week, but what about the rest of the time? I've started keeping track.
On Friday I grabbed a free danish when I got to work, then forgot about eating for the rest of my shift. My usual modus operandi after work is to go to Larry's and stumble around in a hypoglycemic daze, buying whatever looks appetizing, then go home and eat it. This results in extremely random purchases. Friday I wound up with fancy organic potato chips, garlic hummus, and a pint of blueberries. After sleeping, Kerne took me out for a gigantic tasty cheeseburger from Flame. These burgers are amazingly photogenic. Any random one could be put on the cover of Gourmet, or at least Food & Wine. Tasty, too.
Saturday's Larry's expedition netted me a pint of watermelon, two pounds of green grapes, and some cottage cheese, which is the only cheese it's okay to just sit and eat for a while, all by itself. (Kerne disagrees.) I meant to get a steak for Kerne and I to share, but I couldn't find one I liked the looks of. The rest of yesterday's chips & hummus, half a workdanish, and a bite of Al's sesame chicken rounded out the day.
Today is Sunday, so there's the leftovers of a fruit tray at work -- melon, mandarin oranges, more grapes. Delicious. Also leftover sandwiches, which had mayo on them, so I just ate the turkey & cheese.
I'm going to keep foodblogging until I have some useful data, which means about a week or until I get bored. So far it looks like nothing but fruit and junk food.
