Christmas went okay. We were all kind of sick. Ruth in particular had a nasty cough. I just had sinus issues and was really tired. We were having 12 people on Christmas day and another 6 on Boxing Day. Ruth got worried we wouldn't have enough meat with the pork roast, a chicken and ham so we went out the day before and bought a leg of lamb and a duck.
Christmas Eve I par boiled the potatoes and cooked the duck, saving the duck fat for roasting the potatoes the next two days. Then just as we were going to bed we put in the lamb and pork. They were meant to cook for 10-12 hours while we slept.
Ruth got up the next morning to find the oven way colder than it should have been and on consulting the book found out that the ridiculously complicated oven turns itself off after 6 hours so we were about 4 hours behind. Thankfully we'd left enough time as we'd wanted to get the cooking done before the heat. It was hot. Managed to finish off the pork and lamb and get the chicken done before people got here then I made the veg and two types of gravy once they were here. It all turned out well.
Jan had bought so much in the way of chips and lollies (sweets/candy) and they covered the tables but the kids weren't allowed to eat a lot of it so it was a bit awkward. We had Pavlova for dessert. Everyone was encouraged to take stuff home.
It was nice to get to see Ruth's cousin Jessie. We don't see her a lot.
The kids all loved their presents.
Our tree. Haven't had one up for years. With the new chairs in the lounge we didn't really have room for the big tree and couldn't be bothered finding somewhere else to put it so we just set up our tiny one. The fibreoptics don't work right now. We can probably get it fixed but we added battery string lights and it was cute.
I saw a Kirsty Alsop show where they made these paper flowers and I just had to try. I love them & will probably make more
Me and Aiden. I wore my paper hat until I went to bed.
Bonnie is starting to look like she wants to crawl
I think Jan was the only other one that kept her hat on
Justin and his green horse. Apparently he's damaged it now. I'll have to fix it.
