Why Australians need to stand up and speak up A woman with MS who was using crutches asked a woman sitting in the priority seating of a train to let them use the seat and was told 'I was here first, and I'm wearing heels' ugh. Seriously. I haven't had too much trouble on public transport. I don't use it very often but people are generally pretty decent. First off, I'm pretty sure that it's the law that you have to give up your seat to someone who is disabled, elderly or pregnant. Secondly, if heels give you that much trouble then don't fucking wear them. I've never worked in corporate places but surely they can't legally make you wear heels. That's discrimination. Men don't have to wear heels. Otherwise just take another pair of shoes for your commute. You have fucking options. A person with a disability doesn't. I can't take off what ever is causing my massive, constant pain. I can't do anything different to stop my balance being shit. I can't change anything to stop me passing out while standing still. This is not something I have done to myself. There is nothing I can do to change it. I live with it and need a fucking seat on a train/bus etc. Society puts so many barriers in the way of people with disabilities being able to function in society don't be a dick and make it worse.
Bishop says children of gay couples are next stolen generation This makes me so fucking angry. This is offensive to same sex parents and offensive to Aboriginal people. Having two loving parents who want the child and look after them and just happen to be the same sex has fucking nothing to do with children being ripped from their families by the government and denying them their own culture and language and often sending them to Christian missions where they were abused and mistreated. Nothing. Also Marriage has nothing to do with procreation. The thing that makes marriage different to commitment or religious ceremonies is that it is a legal commitment recognised by the government. To deny people that is discrimination. It just is. People have been having kids without legal marriage since the start of the human race. Animals procreate without any need of marriage. The only reason marriage has anything to do with procreation is that it's relevant to who inherits wealth and children. 'Traditionally' marriage is a trade agreement. It is about passing on ownership of a woman from her father to her husband. This has changed, for good reason. We moved on. So don't tell me traditionally is something that needs to be considered. Ugh. If I married the woman I've been with for 15 years it doesn't affect any one else at all. Why are these people so against something that doesn't affect them?
