I'm hoping to be able to enter at least one artwork in to the Frost Fest exhibition in Orange next month. I've been working on the design. First sketching it and then I took a photo and have been drawing it in Paint Tool Sai. Eventually I'd like to tea dye some calico and then embroider the artwork. The theme this year is Orange's Historical Trails.
I've tried to incorporate various parts that made up historical Orange (a city by the way)
Here's what I've got so far of the design.
I needed some opinions on it.
The building is the Court House. The tree will have some leaves and apples on as they grow a lot of apples out there. Farming was a big part of Orange historically and wheat was one of the big crops so I used that as a border. The lines on the left will represent vineyards and the thing in the middle at the bottom is a Poppet Head because there was gold mined there.
The squigly line up the top is Mount Canobolas.
I wasn't sure if I should leave it as it is. It will be displayed in a round hoop so there will be a fair bit of empty space up the top. I didn't know if I should write "Orange" there in a fancy script with the O or the a being an apple. Or if I should try and find something else to represent Orange or just do more of a boarder. Grape vines instead of wheat maybe.
It needs to be something I can stitch reasonably quickly.
Any help or comments appreciated. Thanks
