MY SPILL FOR THE WEEK ON...

(yes drum roll....)

Its funny I think people who don't understand religion and are ignorant to its workings are the ones that view the Church in the negative light. If educated enough it can become a place where faith in strengthened by and within a community. Quoting John Donne :

"No man is an Island"

And this can be true of religion. We need each other for supporting and to continually learn. Also we do need our own personal time to establish a unique relationship with God.

White obviously doesn't put this point across in Riders! Nor does Blake to be honest- but I guess Blake I can understand a bit more considering during his time the Church was a hell of a lot more corrupt than what it is now!

This brings me to a line I heard in a song recently by  Nerina Pallot, where she sings:

"how to have faith, when faith is a crime?"

Which in this society, is just all too true. I mean, if you say you're religious (whether you are Christian, Muslim, Hindu etc etc) you are most of the time criticised. Many people tend to look at religious people differently for some reason, looking at then in an unjust negative way. So Nerina Pallot really hits the nail on the head stating, well how can you expect anyone to have faith, when if you do possess such a great quality, you are ultimately put down? I find it really said if that is what our society boils down to.... that is, one which does not nurture the development of faith and belief.
