037. Sound
He can hear them through his curtains - Lily’s soft gasps and James’ earthy groans. He would cast a silencing charm if he thought it would help but he knows the silence is even worse than the reality. His mind makes up far worse sounds in the silence. Besides, if he’s in that delicate time just before he drifts off to sleep, Lily’s gasps fade away and all that remain are James’ moans. Sometimes if it has been a long day, his lust-addled mind can imagine those grunts are for him. He can imagine James in his bed with him, writhing against him, panting against the curve of his neck. He can bring himself off to James’ groans and not even hear Lily at all.
Other days though, he lies wide awake and nothing, absolutely nothing can persuade him that he’s not fucking her. On those nights he turns away from them onto his side, bites his lip and stares into the darkness, trying too hard not to cry.
