once again: New Year's Resolutions thoughts...

...so I’ll take a breath, kiss the sky, toll the bell, cuz it’s a brand new year!!!

January 1, 2007; it’s hard to believe a year went by so fast... I guess that means it’s time to make those New Year’s Resolutions again.

For the first time in my entire life, I am not resolving to lose weight (well, except for maybe this new-found Christmas weight that has come from eating cookies and other delicious holiday morsels by the truck load haha). Instead, I want to be healthier. Give up some of the bad habits I’ve picked up since last summer; exercise five times a week (no more); start eating breakfast...how hard can it be?

I want to stop procrastinating, and get my shit done on time. There’s no reason for me to be this unbelievably stressed because I’m behind with all of my work. Homework, SWE stuff, packing for London (hahaha)...it can be done on time if I simply get my ass in gear and start working.

Answer my emails as soon as I get them.

Answer my phone when it rings, and call people back (that’s a good one!)

Cut the sarcasm and the snotty-ness just a bit...even though I can’t help the fact that I’m better than everyone else, I don’t need to run around telling everyone about it ;)

Straight A’s this semester, dammit!

And probably most importantly: be a better friend. I suppose that encompasses a majority of the resolutions I’ve already stated (be healthier, respond to emails and phone calls, etc.). But there are other things I need to work on as well; stop burdening everyone with my drama, take advice when it’s given to me, ask questions... I also want to get back in touch with old friends. Last night I had a dream that I spent the entire afternoon catching up with Lauren and then on my way back to the house, I ran into Tiah and we chatted for a while about how crazy her life is getting, and then I ran into Katie from work and we reminisced about the good ole’ days of camp. I think I was much older in this dream, but the meaning is still pretty clear to me. I have cut a lot of people out of my life: old friends, friends from home, friends I’ve met online, even some close friends from school. Who knows why this has happened, but it needs to stop.

Here’s hoping I stick to them this year...wish me luck, and good luck to all of you and your resolutions if you choose to make them this time around. Let’s hear it for 2007!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
-Katie :)
