Fall Break = FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!
I’m going to keep this short tonight, because I’m tired, and I want to go to bed...but a short update on the amazingness of the past four days is definitely in order.
As most all of you know, I spent the majority of my break in Chicago. No, I didn’t see Wicked, and trust me, walking by the Oriental and seeing those bright green lights DID make me question my judgment this time around, but what I did see and do made missing Wicked this time worth while. Besides...I’ll be back in two weeks to see Stacie’s last ;)
This isn’t going to be in sequential order, but whatever...
First of all, Kristy Cates is AMAZING! Her solo show was absolutely incredible - she’s so talented, personable, frickin hilarious! I laughed my ass off, cried like an infant, got the chills and the shakes, and cheered like a teenage fan-girl. (all of which are quite evident in my otherwise-A audio I shall share with you all as soon as I get it tracked *grins*) shhhhhhhhh. :) I’ve always been a crazed concert-goer, and as of late, a crazed theatre-goer as well. So, combining the two into one incredible night pretty much equals heaven in my book. Oh yeah, and KRIS CUSICK was the special guest (totally called that one *bows*) AND I sat in the same row as he did, AND I sat right in front of Kristy’s mom. *dies* Kris borrowed my Sharpie after the show...I felt important lol
Alrighty, moving along, er, back, to The Pirate Queen. Steph is really incredible as well. Most of the music was really pretty; anything Steph sang was beautiful, and the lyrics to “She Who Has it All,” and “Because I Am a Wife” were quite powerful. Basically anything sung by a woman was fantastic, and the opening was exciting, but I felt the ensemble songs and, well, story line, were kind of lacking. I guess that’s why it’s in previews, eh? Not that I’m unhappy that I went - I LOVED seeing the show...I, however, am quite easily impressed. I don’t think I’d see it again while it’s playing in Chicago, but if I happened to be in New York while it was playing on Broadway, I’d give the show another shot.
Other highlights include SHOPPING!! I can’t go to Chicago without spending way too much of my hard earned money on clothing items that I don’t really need. I bought some stuff I needed, quite a few stuffs I didn’t ;) *shrugs*
I came back today, as I always do, completely depressed that the weekend was over. Luckily, I have the best friends in the world, who instantly made me forget my sadness and had me cracking up within minutes. <3
Tomorrow, I’ll be back in Chicago for a Mozart concert. Unfortunately, the symphony hall is a bit far from the Oriental... ;) *sigh*
I’ll update more later, with reviews for those of you who are interested...and pictures. Peace out, friends!

I'll give you stars and the moon
and the open highway, and the river beneath your feet...
I'll give you nights full of passion
and days of adventure
no strings, just warm, summer rain
And I thought,
You know, I'd rather have champagne...
...my God, I'll never have the moon...
